Free Verse - Global Warming

Wake Up, this is your warning.
Global Warming is a very serious problem.
I’m not joking. It starts with smoking, spewing disgusting pollutants into the air.
Next, maybe litter. It makes some of us bitter, yet we don’t make a sound, watching you drop your trash on the ground.
Harvesting our resources, like the rain forest, harms the poorest, not us.
We trust that the forestry companies are replanting what they cut down.
Right?
Don’t be fools. We are to blame too. Burning fossil fuels, driving to school.
People commuting.
Cars polluting.
Refuting the evidence that we can save the planet if we just do our part.
Leaking just a little oil, into the soil and into the ground water.
What’s the matter?
To keep the lights on we burn coal, Canada set a goal to reduce our greenhouse gasses.
If the masses do it, why do I have to as well?
Global Warming, melting ice cap, kills animals everywhere, polar bears, no one cares.
We say we do, but it’s all an illusion, too much pollution.

What’s the solution?
Start the new cool, stand up for our planet and walk to school.
Can we hear you shout out, pick up your trash and butt out.
Ask your family to try green energy, solar, wind.
Maybe tonight, turn out your lights.
You just might
Find that it isn’t so bad.
Clean up our lakes,
Plant a tree or what ever it takes.
Is it any use?
Be careful what we use, how much we produce, but most of all
Reduce, Reuse Recycle
